Tabletop role playing games offer a unique narrative experience that no other kind of game can replicate: the power of freeform group storytelling. Players work together to inhabit a fictional world, become unique characters, and craft a story where no one player is in total control of the outcome. Unfortunately, many of these games can be overly complex and intimidating for new players, significantly raising the barrier of entry to play. We wanted to solve that problem, to create a tabletop role playing game that’s easy to pick up and play as a casual party game. The result was Role, a mobile app built on a streamlined set of rules that anyone can learn in minutes.
