2018 began with a lot of changes in my life: marriage, new job, new city, new routines & traditions. I wanted to carve out a creative space to tell the story of that transition. From that desire, 30kpc was born. The name is short for "30 kiloparsecs" - roughly the diameter of the Milky Way Galaxy. I wanted the brand to stand for the infinite stories and connections we each experience in a lifetime, and the wonder we feel reflecting on those experiences. The name has additional meaning for me, as it was actually conceived by my closest friend - who I now live an entire continent away from.
Over the course of a year, I began shooting, processing, and posting a new photo every day. I settled on a warm purple and teal look to signify the surreal feeling of constant change. 30kpc will be launching its first hardcover photo-book in the spring, as well as a collection of music produced in collaboration with my good friend Zach Golden. From there, the plan is to repeat this process each year - starting over with a new look inspired by my most recent experiences, and culminating with a yearly book release and media collaboration.
